Exploring fuel retail innovation in Latin America with Gilbarco Veeder-Root

From the pump to the EV charger to the store counter, Gilbarco Veeder-Root used ExpoPostos & Conveniência 2026 to make the case that convenience retail's future belongs to whoever connects it all.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root used ExpoPostos & Conveniência 2026, held September 8–10 in São Paulo, Brazil, to show how far its portfolio has moved past pure fuel-dispensing hardware and into the convenience and payments layer of the forecourt.

Ariel Dovek, Commercial Director for Latin America, walked through how Gilbarco's long-running presence in Brazil has tracked the market's own evolution, from Vontier's support via the "powered by" branding, into a market he described as heavily regulated but increasingly open to innovation and new technology. Dovek pointed to forecourt self check out, EV charging and the submersible pump as the products drawing the most attention on the stand and named Brazil as the strongest commercial opportunity in the region right now.

"There are over 45,000 service stations in Brazil, which amounts to almost half of Latin America, including Mexico," Dovek says. "So this is proof that the country is a region in itself."

For Nadia Sarur, Marketing Leader for Latin America, the story is as much about narrative as hardware. She described how the shift toward convenience is changing the way a historically fuel-equipment-focused company like Gilbarco talks about itself, leaning into payments and loyalty alongside metering. Asked about Vontier's global research showing most loyal convenience-store customers still aren't enrolled in a loyalty program, Sarur addressed whether that pattern holds in Latin America, tying customer loyalty and shifting shopping behavior directly into how GVR is framing its convenience pitch going forward.

Daniel Sartini, Convenience Retail Business Leader in Brazil, made the clearest case for where the portfolio is headed. "The solutions Gilbarco Veeder-Root provides for gas stations today go far beyond payment and the store," he said. "They bring greater efficiency to gas station operations, which also means greater convenience for customers, better results for the retailer, and, ultimately, greater efficiency and simplicity for our retailer's customers."

Between FlexPay 6's debut in Brazil, the expanded Red Jacket and TLS monitoring line, and the push into charging and fleet management through Konect, MTA and FuelONet Prime, Gilbarco Veeder-Root's stand at ExpoPostos & Conveniência reads like a bet on Latin America's own momentum, a region moving toward convenience on its own terms, and a company keen to grow alongside it.
