Murphy USA plans to expand redesign initiative

The retailer aims to refurbish 50 of its 260-square-meter stores in 2024 after a recent successful pilot across nine stores.

Murphy USA aims to expand its redesign campaign across more stores in 2024. The news comes after the company recently completed a successful nine-location pilot throughout its network.

According to C-Store Dive, the retailer’s plans include 50 260 m2 sites to be redeveloped into its new format, which includes new layout design for food service and coffee area. This initiative was previously announced back in March, when Murphy detailed its expansion plans for 2023.

Following that announcement, the company finally confirmed that it is on track to open 27 to 30 new stores this year, falling short of its goal of up to 45. Six of these newly built locations are QuickCheck sites.

As part of its campaign to renovate stores across its footprint, Murphy also expects to convert 33 kiosk stores into 140 m2 locations before the end of 2023.

Currently, Murphy USA operates over 1,700 locations across 27 states, of which 1,568 operate under the company’s name while 156 are under the Quickcheck banner.
