South Korea: GS25 adopts app-based management solution for unmanned stores
Managers will be able to check various data such as real-time store traffic, manage different services and make announcements for customers.
GS25, the South Korean retail chain owned by the GS Group, has announced it will implement a mobile remote management solution for its unmanned stores. Managers will be able to check real-time data of different locations as well as operate some of its services.
The company stated that the app will be implemented on January 11 for its unmanned locations across the country. This is a first step for the firm in its strategy to implement the latest technology and information not only for its clients but for its own staff as well.
Real-time data that store managers will be able to check include the number of people entering and leaving as well as their behaviour during their visit. Other services include operating doors or controlling the volume of speakers, as informed by the news site Aju Business Daily.
The number of unmanned stores operated by GS25 was 600 as of January of last year, most of them located at big buildings or industrial complexes in remote areas. Its services involve clients having to scan the barcodes of products they wish to acquire. Their main objective is to provide a solution for workers who have to travel long distances on foot to visit a manned convenience store.
