South African chicken chain Tasty Gallos plans to open restaurants at bp service stations, with the first outlet targeted for the second quarter of 2027. Participating dealers will run the quick-service units as franchisees, next to the forecourt convenience store.

Tasty Gallos specializes in flame-grilled and fried chicken and has outlets at Eastgate, Greenstone, The Glen, Mthatha Plaza and the University of the Witwatersrand. It is now working with bp dealers to find suitable sites and franchise partners, as reported by Daily Investor.

The plan comes as South African fuel retailers deal with falling volumes. According to research the Fuel Retailers’ Association published in June 2026, fuel volumes had declined by 6.3%, and 68% of consumers buy fast food when they visit a fuel station. The association expects that fuel’s share of station income, historically around 90%, could fall to 20%.
