Weigel’s puts training and store procedures in one app
The family-owned chain loaded over 1,000 policies into Trike.co across its stores, commissary and dairy, adding QR-coded procedures and an AI assistant for every shift.
Weigel’s has rolled out a single digital platform for employee training, policy sign-offs and daily operations checklists across its stores, commissary and dairy. The system, provided by Trike.co, went live on October 1 and replaces three separate vendor tools, so employees now have one place to find what they need to do their jobs.
The East Tennessee chain is expanding into new communities and growing its food production. It is investing in tools that make onboarding easier and help teams keep the same standards at every location.
Weigel’s has loaded more than 1,000 of its own policies, procedures and training files into the platform, and employees can search them. QR codes on equipment and at workstations open the relevant procedure on the spot. A link to the company’s payroll and HR system automatically assigns training when someone is hired, transferred or promoted. An AI assistant answers questions based on Weigel’s approved policies, which helps on any shift, including overnight, when support staff can be harder to reach.
“We wanted to make it easier for our team members to learn their jobs and find the information they need,” said Brad Anderson, Director of Recruiting and Development at Weigel’s. “Bringing these tools together helps us support new employees and gives experienced team members a resource they can use throughout their shift.”
Weigel’s was founded in 1931 and is family-owned. It runs more than 90 convenience stores, plus a commissary, a dairy and a bakery.
