Sunoco completes Parkland acquisition
Acquisition strengthens Sunoco’s global fuel distribution network amid Parkland’s recent U.S. challenges.
Parkland Corporation announced that its acquisition by Sunoco LP was completed on October 31, 2025, marking a major step in the U.S. fuel distributor’s global expansion strategy.
Sunoco LP is a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution partnership operating across North America, the Greater Caribbean, and Europe. The company manages roughly 14,000 miles of pipeline, over 160 terminals, and distributes more than 15 billion gallons of fuel annually to 11,000 retail and partner-branded locations.
Sunoco, which sold most of its convenience store assets to 7-Eleven in 2024, still operates about 76 company-owned stores in the United States.
Parkland has faced financial headwinds in the U.S. market in recent years. Since early 2023, the company has cut hundreds of jobs in its U.S. division and considered selling its Florida business amid ongoing operational challenges.
Revenue from its U.S. operations dropped from $186 million in 2023 to $168 million in 2024, which company executives attributed to weak market conditions and reduced retail and commercial fuel volumes.
The acquisition positions Sunoco to strengthen its retail and fuel distribution network while expanding its international footprint.
