bp appoints Emma Lewis to lead its Downstream business
The former Shell and ExxonMobil executive will join in January 2027 as executive vice president, overseeing refining, mobility and convenience, aviation and bioenergy.
bp has appointed Emma Lewis as executive vice president, Downstream, and a member of its leadership team. She will join the company in January 2027.
bp’s Downstream segment brings together its refining, terminals and pipelines, mobility and convenience, aviation and bioenergy businesses, covering how the company makes, moves and sells fuel products.
Lewis is a chemical engineer with more than 25 years’ experience across chemicals, refining, manufacturing, commercial operations, supply chains and strategy. She has held senior leadership roles at Shell and ExxonMobil in Europe, Asia and North America.
“Emma is a proven leader with deep operational and commercial experience across global downstream businesses. She has a strong track record of improving performance and leading large organisations through change,” said Meg O’Neill, bp chief executive.
“bp has exceptional people, strong businesses and a distinctive integrated model. I’m looking forward to working with the team to further strengthen performance, reinforce safe and reliable operations and deliver sustained value for bp,” said Lewis.
Richard Harding, who has led Downstream on an interim basis for the past seven months, will remain in the role until Lewis takes up her post.
