AXION energy pilots solar power at service stations in Argentina
Initial rollout targets emissions cuts and efficiency gains as the company weighs network-wide expansion in 2026.
AXION energy begins the first phase of a plan to integrate solar power into its service stations across Argentina, aiming to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency across its network. The initiative starts with a pilot at four locations and serves as a testing ground for a broader rollout planned from 2026.
The company installs photovoltaic panels at stations in the city of Córdoba, Villa Allende, Fisherton in Santa Fe province, and Ituzaingó in Greater Buenos Aires. The company estimates the installations cover around 20% of each station’s electricity demand.
Combined, the four sites can generate up to 285,000 kWh of renewable energy per year, roughly equivalent to the annual consumption of 95 average households.
The project also targets lower emissions, as the retailer calculates an annual reduction of 56 tonnes of CO₂, a figure that will help assess the potential impact of replicating the system across more locations.
“The initiative is a concrete step toward a more sustainable energy model for our operations,” the company said in a press release. “Based on the results of this first stage, we want to extend it to our entire network and will evaluate the best way to continue moving forward.”
Technical and economic analysis now guides the next steps, with criteria including energy consumption, solar exposure, infrastructure conditions and concession timelines. The pilot adds to more than a dozen AXION-branded stations already using solar panels, as well as recent renewable energy upgrades at the company’s Campana refinery.
