Ballenoil launches its own EV charging network
The company plans to electrify one-third of its station network with ultra-fast chargers by the end of 2025.
Ballenoil has announced the launch of its own electric vehicle (EV) charging network, becoming the first low-cost fuel retailer in Spain to develop and operate its own network of ultra-fast EV chargers, taking full control of its electrification roadmap.
By the end of 2025, Ballenoil plans to install 42 new branded charging points, which will complement its existing EV infrastructure and result in a network of nearly 100 charging stations across the Iberian Peninsula. These new chargers, capable of delivering over 150 kW, will enable drivers to power up to 80% of their vehicle battery in just 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the model.
The chargers were acquired from the company Eléctrico by Moeve and will be rebranded under the Ballenoil name, with installation focusing on high-traffic urban areas and key mobility corridors.
“With this decision, we take full control of our electric strategy,” said Manuel Sáez, CEO of Ballenoil. “Until now, charger installation was managed by third parties and driven by regulatory requirements. Today, we are deploying and operating our own ultra-fast EV charging network—an essential step in our ambition to lead sustainable mobility within our sector.”
Ballenoil’s initiative signals a shift in the industry, redefining EV infrastructure not as an obligation but as a growth driver tied to innovation and energy transition. By taking ownership of its charging network, the company positions itself at the forefront of accessible, low-emission transportation, while continuing to meet the evolving needs of drivers across Spain.
Looking ahead, Ballenoil aims to operate 500 service stations by 2027, many of which will include EV charging points, supporting a cleaner, more efficient, and inclusive mobility landscape.
