BP to relocate global headquarters to London’s South Bank
Energy company to consolidate teams at Landsec’s Timber Square development by 2028.
BP will move its global headquarters to London’s South Bank after securing a lease at the Timber Square development in Bankside, marking a significant shift in the company’s UK footprint. The agreement with developer Landsec covers 192,000 sq ft across the entire 15‑storey Ink building, representing over half of the scheme, which is due for completion this month.
As reported by The Standard, the relocation is expected to take place by early 2028 and will bring together corporate, technical and engineering teams that are currently split between the company’s St James’s Square headquarters and its Sunbury site on the outskirts of London. The company said the move reflects its efforts to create a more integrated organisation under incoming CEO Meg O’Neill, who takes office on April 1.
The shift will place BP’s main office just a mile from Shell’s long‑established headquarters on York Road, making the South Bank home to the UK’s two largest energy companies. The new site is intended to support closer collaboration across business units while providing modern office space aligned with the company’s operational and cultural priorities.
BP’s move continues a broader trend of multinational firms consolidating operations into central London developments designed around hybrid work, connectivity and sustainability features.
