B&Q deploys ultra-fast EV charging across UK stores

Retailer partners with RAW Charging on £11m rollout targeting daily customer and trade use.

B&Q is rolling out an ultra‑rapid EV charging network across its UK store estate through an £11 million partnership with RAW Charging. The initiative aims to install high‑power hubs at up to 28 locations across England and Wales over the next 12 months, as the retailer targets commercial users and supports the transition to electric vans by enabling contactless payments and integration with major EV charging apps.

The charging points are designed to integrate into everyday customer and trade routines, allowing drivers to recharge vehicles while shopping. Alongside high‑power charging, the sites feature larger bays and options suited to longer dwell times, aligning with the typical duration of store visits.

“B&Q is committed to reducing our impact on the environment and to helping our customers to live more sustainably,” said Kingsley Mack, Director of Property at B&Q. “Working with RAW Charging, we’re helping to make it easier for our customers to charge their electric cars and vans.”

The rollout includes infrastructure upgrades where necessary, such as high‑voltage connections and grid enhancements, to ensure the sites can handle growing charging demand over time.

The partnership also reflects a focus on supporting commercial users, particularly tradespeople who rely on vans and require reliable charging integrated into their daily routes. By locating charging at established retail sites, the project aims to connect vehicle charging with practical, high‑traffic destinations.
