Casino Group rebrands as PLESIO to put convenience first

The French retailer’s new corporate name, meaning closeness in Greek, unites seven brands including Monoprix, Franprix and Spar, while the Casino store banner continues unchanged.

French retailer Casino Group is changing its name to PLESIO, a new corporate identity that reflects its focus on convenience retail. The change applies only to the group, as its seven brands (Monoprix, Casino, Spar, Vival, Cdiscount, Franprix and Naturalia) keep their names and identities.

The new name will appear gradually across communications, and the change of registered company name will go to shareholders for approval at the 2027 General Meeting.

PLESIO means “closeness” in Greek and was chosen as a short, simple and memorable name to bring the brands together. The group has placed convenience at the center of its strategy since 2024. Its “Renouveau 2030” plan targets three markets: daily food shopping, quick meal solutions and new everyday services.

The group is separating its corporate identity from the Casino brand, which continues with its own stores and customers. It plans to pool resources and expertise so its banners can roll out store concepts faster, refurbish stores and expand quick meal solutions and services. It is also strengthening its role as a franchisor while respecting shopkeepers’ independence.

“With our new identity, PLESIO, we are entering the next stage of the Group’s development, driven by a clear belief: the future of retail lies in convenience,” said Philippe Palazzi, CEO of PLESIO. “We will roll out our store concepts, expand our quick meal solutions and services, and equip our franchise partners to succeed.”

In 2025, the group employed around 25,000 people and operated nearly 6,500 stores, generating €12.5 billion in business volume.
