Circle K unveils first South African store in a Puma Energy station

The fuel retailer has agreed to deploy the brand in over 100 sites throughout the country after striking a deal with Millat Convenience.

Puma Energy announced a forecourt deal with Millat Convenience, operator of the Circle K brand in South Africa, to deploy the convenience store at over one hundred service stations across the country. The first location has been recently opened for consumers at a forecourt in Moreleta Park, Pretoria.

The fuel retailer operates a network of 112 sites nationwide which offer customers a variety of convenience offerings, car washes and quick-service food outlets. Through this partnership, both companies aim to draw drivers to their stations and keep them as frequent visitors. The Circle K stores will offer a variety of freshly made on-site, chef inspired food as well as several new imported candy and confectionery brands.

“Like Puma Energy, Circle K is known around the world for its commitment to quality and excellent customer service. This partnership aligns with our plans to create high-quality fuel and convenience outlets where customers can access all their fuel and daily shopping needs at clean, friendly and convenient retail sites,” said Janet Sithole, Non-Fuels Retail Manager for Africa at Puma Energy.

The agreement is a clear sign of the confidence two major international brands have in South Africa’s future in the short term and could create around 2,000 jobs. Circle K has approximately 7,000 stores in the US and almost 14,100 locations worldwide. The Millat Group, parent company of Millat Convenience, is a South African private equity firm with a private portfolio of assets within the tourism and hospitality sectors.
