Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has appointed Clay Corbus as President and Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership transition after three decades under co-founder Andrew Littlefair. Corbus also joins the company’s board of directors, while Littlefair moves from his executive role to serve as a non-employee government relations consultant and remains on the board.

The appointment follows a decision by Clean Energy’s Board of Directors to elevate a senior executive with nearly 20 years at the company. Corbus has held multiple leadership roles, including directing corporate strategy, overseeing mergers and acquisitions, leading capital-raising efforts, and most recently managing the company’s renewable natural gas production and distribution businesses. Prior to joining Clean Energy, he served as Co-CEO of investment bank WR Hambrecht + Co.

“I’m honored to step into the role of CEO and am grateful to the board for its confidence in me,” Corbus said, adding that he plans to build on the company’s existing leadership as Clean Energy continues to expand its renewable natural gas platform.

Littlefair described the transition as a point of continuity, stating that he is “confident we have the right leader in Clay” to guide the company through the ongoing shift toward alternative fuels in heavy-duty transportation.
