Co-op and EG On The Move grow joint network with new Essex site
New Norton Heath service station combines modern fuel services with an upgraded Co‑op convenience store for local drivers and commuters.
Co-op and EG On The Move are expanding their forecourt and convenience partnership with the launch of a new roadside service station in Norton Heath, Chelmsford. The development brings together EG On The Move’s petrol forecourt with a Co-op franchise convenience store, creating a combined fuel and food destination on Chelmsford Road.
The newly redeveloped site features eight fuel pumps offering petrol and diesel, air and vacuum facilities, and planned electric vehicle charging points. A new Greggs bakery is also opening alongside the forecourt, adding to the offer available to motorists.
Inside the store, shoppers will find a range of fresh food, chilled produce, bakery items, meal deals and everyday essentials, along with self‑service Starbucks coffee.
Michael Hargreaves, Co-op Head of Forecourt Franchise, said: “We aim to create a destination, a hub locally with Norton Heath’s service station focussed on meeting the fuel and food needs of motorists and those who live in the surrounding area.”
This latest opening follows a successful trial between both companies in 2024 and adds to sites recently launched in Moston and Buchandyke. With Norton Heath, the collaboration now totals 11 locations across the UK.
