Copec opens Chile’s first all-wood fuel station in Peñalolén
The opening marks Copec’s 700th service station and 500th Pronto store.
Copec has inaugurated Chile’s first fuel station built entirely from wood, marking a new benchmark for sustainable infrastructure. Located in Peñalolén, Santiago, the site also celebrates two milestones: Copec’s 700th service station and the 500th Pronto store.
Constructed with laminated and cross-laminated timber from Arauco, the project significantly reduces its carbon footprint, storing 298 tonnes of CO₂, equivalent to removing 24 cars from the road for a year. “This station shows how innovation and sustainability can shape everyday infrastructure,” said CEO Arturo Natho.
Beyond its design, the station offers a full-service experience: a Pronto store with dining options, EV charging points, car wash facilities, bike parking and traditional fuels. It operates 24/7 and aims to improve convenience and safety for urban commuters.
The opening underscores Copec’s commitment to carbon neutrality and its strategy to integrate mobility solutions across Chile. As the country accelerates its energy transition, the Peñalolén station sets a precedent for combining sustainability and user experience in high-traffic areas.
