Cumberland Farms expands with Coen Markets acquisition
Deal adds 54 stores in Pittsburgh region, strengthening convenience retail and foodservice presence.
Cumberland Farms has completed the acquisition of Coen Markets, expanding its footprint in the United States with the addition of 54 stores across the Pittsburgh region, along with three new-to-industry locations and 20 dealer sites. The transaction strengthens the company’s position in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.
Coen Markets brings a developed retail model anchored in foodservice, including freshly prepared offerings such as fried chicken, pepperoni rolls and pizza, alongside its Club Coen loyalty program. These operations will now be integrated into Cumberland Farms’ broader network, which spans more than 4,000 sites nationwide.
The acquisition aligns with Cumberland Farms’ strategy to scale its convenience retail and foodservice operations in key regional markets, leveraging established customer bases and existing infrastructure.
Russ Colaco, CEO of Cumberland Farms, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Coen Markets team to Cumberland Farms. The McIlvaine brothers have built an exceptional business with a strong customer base.” He added: “We look forward to building on the foundation they have created, as part of our growth strategy in the US.”
The addition of Coen Markets is expected to enhance the company’s offering in areas where demand for convenience and prepared food continues to grow.
