Element 2 unveils plans for its first Scottish hydrogen station
The company is targeting to install over 250 hydrogen pumps over the next six years in Scotland, and to increase this target to 300 by 2030.
Element 2 unveiled a new plan to launch its first Scottish hydrogen refuelling station through a £2 (€2.35) million investment. Subject to planning consent, the Bridge of Don hydrogen station, in Aberdeen, would be active in the first quarter of 2022, says the company.
Located near potential customers based around Aberdeen Airport and commercial transport companies, the Bridge of Don site would feature four to six pumps capable of dispensing up to three tonnes of hydrogen fuel per day.
The announcement marks Element 2’s official entry in Scotland’s hydrogen refuelling ecosystem, where the company is targeting to install over 250 hydrogen pumps over the next six years, and to increase this target to 300 by 2030.
Element 2 has identified Aberdeen, Dundee and Glasgow as focal points for establishing its Scottish refuelling network.
Led by entrepreneur Tim Harper and fuel cells and hydrogen technology expert Brendan Bilton, Element 2 plans to invest £1 (€1.18) billion over the next 10 years in deploying an ambitious hydrogen refuelling network which will total 2,000 hydrogen pumps across the United Kingdom.
