ExpoPostos & Conveniência 2026: Brazil looks outward
The 22nd edition of the Brazilian trade show made its clearest case yet for looking beyond the country's borders, with a growing international footprint on the show floor and in its International Forum.
From 8 to 10 September, ABIEPS and Fecombustíveis celebrated ExpoPostos & Conveniência’s 22nd edition, bringing together more than 30,000 attendees and over 250 exhibitors at São Paulo Expo, in collaboration with GL Events. Three days that reflected a market increasingly comfortable operating on its own terms, but also hungry to keep pace with the latest innovations shaping the sector globally.
Pace was one of the recurring themes on the floor this year. Melina Puma, Account Executive at PDI Technologies, described a market moving fast: private companies joining the spot market, international retailers arriving, and a growing number of convenience stores. That momentum showed up in exhibitors' own plans, too, as Luis DeMontes, VP Sales at PDI Technologies, put a number on it, noting that Brazil is already PDI's third-largest market by revenue, and that the company now wants to make it central to its growth across South America.
A similar logic played out on the hardware side, with Stelmo Carneiro, Vice President of Operations at Dover Fueling Solutions Dundee & Wayne Rio, pointing to how Wayne and DFS used the fair to introduce pumps compliant with Brazil's new metrology and safety regulations. This, paired with a payment solution already running in Europe and other Latin American markets and ready to launch locally once regulation allows, signals that product roadmaps from international leaders are increasingly built around Brazil's regulatory calendar.
To draw parallels with more mature markets, Katharina Krawinkel, Regional Executive Director for Latin America at PWM, framed Brazil's moment through a European lens. The shift toward convenience stores and digitalization that Europe went through roughly a decade ago is now unfolding locally, from digital signage to a stronger focus on the store rather than just the pump.
The international pull worked in the other direction as well. Bruno Bregoli Soares, Executive Director at NEXTA Distribuidora, spoke to how NEXTA operates the Petronas service station brand in Brazil, currently the only country besides Malaysia where Petronas runs under its own flag. He described the fair's shift toward integrated value propositions that go well beyond fuel, anchored by its convenience-focused Yes store banner and a foodservice offer built to make life easier for operators.
Back at the venue, the numbers told a similar story. Tatiana Zaccaro, Managing Director at GL events Exhibitions, noted that the exhibition floor grew 25% this year and visitor numbers hit a new record. For the first time, the International Forum also offered simultaneous Spanish translation, a logistical detail with a large signal behind it, positioning the forum as a business hub for the wider Latin American fuel retail and convenience sector.
That widening scope was most visible in the Forum's own program. Now in its 17th edition running alongside the exhibition, it welcomed international speakers including Mark Wohltmann and Brian Gray, with panels also addressing regulations and a foodvenience roundtable with leading retailers aimed at elevating the Brazilian fuel stop experience.
MobilityPlaza's on-site interviews at ExpoPostos & Conveniência 2026 gathered perspectives from PDI Technologies, Dover Fueling Solutions, PWM, NEXTA Distribuidora and GL events Exhibitions, capturing a show that positioned Brazil as a market standing on its own, ready for the next revolution in mobility and convenience.
