Family Express opens first modularized concept store in Ligonier

Indiana retailer celebrates milestone as part of its 50th anniversary expansion.

Family Express has officially opened its first modularized masonry store in Ligonier, Indiana, marking an important step in the company’s broader growth strategy.

The Ligonier store is the first of four new Family Express locations set to open before the end of the year, coinciding with the company’s 50th anniversary celebrations. The modular concept allows for greater construction efficiency while maintaining the brand’s design and service standards.

“We are in the business of building relationships with communities, co-workers, and the public,” said Gus Olympidis, President and CEO of Family Express. “When we open our doors in a community that is not familiar with our legacy of customer Service, we give them a sample of our overall engagement as to underline our assertion that we are not a gas station.”

The grand opening featured employees handing out fresh carnations to guests, complimentary car washes, and made-to-order items from the retailer’s proprietary Cravin’s-To-Order kitchen.

Founded in 1975 in Valparaiso, Family Express has become one of Indiana’s most recognized convenience store chains. This expansion follows the company’s strategic push to grow its footprint across Indiana.
