Gasum opens new biogas station at Trondheim Port
The new facility strengthens renewable fuel availability for heavy-duty transport in central Norway, offering both liquefied and compressed biogas near key freight corridors.
Gasum has expanded its Norwegian fueling network with the opening of a new biogas station at the Port of Trondheim, marking the company's 13th liquefied biogas filling station in the country.
Located close to the E6 highway, the facility is designed to serve both local and long-haul transport operators moving through one of central Norway's growing logistics hubs. The station offers both liquefied biogas (LBG) and compressed biogas (CBG), allowing it to accommodate different types of gas-powered vehicles.
The new site complements Gasum's existing Trondheim station in Tiller, which opened in 2021. According to the company, rising demand for renewable fuels in recent years supported the decision to add capacity and strengthen fuel availability in the region.
The station also supports Gasum's broader strategy of expanding biogas infrastructure along Norway's main transport corridors, with a particular focus on routes used by heavy-duty vehicles traveling north from Trondheim.
The opening comes as Norway continues efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with national targets calling for a reduction of at least 55% by 2030 and 70-75% by 2035. Road transport remains a major source of emissions, accounting for a significant share of the country's transportation-related carbon output.
With the addition of the Trondheim Port site, Gasum further expands its Nordic network of renewable fuel infrastructure aimed at supporting the transition to lower-emission freight transportation.
