South Korean convenience store chain GS25 has officially entered the northern Vietnamese market, opening six outlets in Hanoi.

This marks a significant milestone in the retailer’s expansion strategy beyond its traditional southern stronghold. The newly launched stores are located across Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, and Cau Giay districts, as reported by Vietnam Investment Review.

Since debuting in Vietnam in 2018, the retailer has primarily focused on Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces, including Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Currently, the chain operates 350 stores in southern Vietnam.

“Expanding into Hanoi marks a pivotal moment as we grow our footprint across Vietnam. We aspire to become a convenience store brand that truly represents the country,” said Lee Sung-hwa, Managing Director of GS Retail.

Looking ahead, GS25 aims to rapidly scale up its presence in Hanoi, targeting more than 40 stores by the end of the year. With this expansion, the company is now working toward an ambitious goal of reaching 500 outlets nationwide by 2026 and 700 by 2027.
