Iberdrola and BYD team up on EV charging in Spain
Buyers of BYD plug-in vehicles get a home charger when installation is contracted with Iberdrola, plus discounts on energy tariffs and the utility’s public charging network.
Iberdrola España and BYD have reached a strategic agreement to promote e-mobility in Spain. Their joint offer combines home charging, energy tariffs and benefits on Iberdrola’s public charging network, aiming to make electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible and simplify charger installation.
Customers who buy a BYD plug-in vehicle will receive a home charger if they contract its installation with Iberdrola. Those who sign up for the utility’s Plan Recarga Inteligente tariff will also get a discount on their energy contract equivalent to 10,000 km of driving a year for three years.
For charging away from home, BYD drivers will receive a 50% discount on Iberdrola’s public network for the first six months. After that period, they can keep a 20% discount through a free subscription to Plan Recarga +.
Iberdrola has installed 100,000 public and private charge points in Spain, with more than 12,000 operational on its public network. The agreement was presented by Luis Buil, Director of Smart Solutions at Iberdrola España, and Alberto de Aza, General Manager of BYD Iberia.
