Jiri Zrust named new Chairman of Puma Energy’s Board

The appointment of Zrust looks to strengthen synergies across Trafigura’s portfolio of assets.

Puma Energy announced that Jiri Zrust, Head of Trafigura’s Operating Assets division, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Puma Energy, taking over from René Médori from 1 April 2025.

The appointment of Zrust as Chairman of the Board will further strengthen synergies across Trafigura’s portfolio of assets, while ensuring Puma Energy continues to operate as a separate entity on an arms-length, commercial basis, according to the company.

The appointment also reflects Trafigura’s new governance strategy for its subsidiary companies as part of the newly created Operating Assets division. The division will bring practice in private equity and infrastructure investment as it relates to governance and management of Trafigura’s operating subsidiaries.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank René Médori for his leadership of the Puma Energy board and his outstanding contribution to the development of the company’s business strategy and improved financial performance,” said Jiri Zrust.

Along with the recent appointment of Mark Russell as Puma Energy CEO, these changes follow Puma Energy’s successful turnaround back to profitability. This was achieved after Trafigura took a controlling stake and integrated Puma Energy into the Group in 2021.
