LEAP24 opens fast charging station for delivery trucks in Rotterdam
The company has built the first of this kind of installation to cater delivery and passenger vehicles operating in the Dutch city with seven fast chargers in total.
LEAP24 officially opened its first fast charging station in Rotterdam, Netherlands, especially dedicated for delivery and passenger cars. The installation was inaugurated in a special celebration attended by company representatives and Vincent Karremans, the new Alderman for Enforcement, Outdoor Space and Mobility of the municipality of Rotterdam.
A total of seven fast chargers are located in the new facility that allow vehicles to charge up to 120 kW per hour, almost 10 times faster than public street charging stations. This location is publicly accessible to both private and business drivers.
In addition to this new opening in Rotterdam, locations in Almere and Geleen have also been opened and construction work is already underway in Delft and Hoogeveen. The company aims to expand the number of charging stations for large and small vehicles in the coming years.
According to the LEAP24’s press release, 27 cities in the Netherlands have expressed their ambition to have zero emission urban logistics by 2025. This will allow them to reduce CO2 emissions and improve air quality. The company's fast charging stations make switching to electric driving more attractive for road transport such as cabs, vans and trucks.
