Lisa Mullings to step down as NATSO President and CEO in 2024
Under her leadership, the organization became a significant voice for its members on Capitol Hill.
NATSO, the national association representing truck stops and travel centers, announced on December 17 that Lisa Mullings will step down as president and CEO at the end of 2024. Mullings has held the position since 2004, following her role as the association’s vice president of public affairs and counsel.
Reflecting on her tenure, Mullings called the decision to leave "difficult" but expressed confidence in the organization’s future. She highlighted her time at NATSO as an opportunity to work with an "extraordinary team" and emphasized the industry’s importance to the nation’s transportation system and economy.
During her two decades as leader, Mullings guided NATSO in advocating for truck stops and travel centers at the federal level, focusing on legislative and regulatory challenges. Under her leadership, the organization became a significant voice for its members on Capitol Hill and within regulatory agencies.
NATSO Chairman Joe Zietlow commended Mullings’ contributions, noting her dedication to the industry and its members. "During my 11 months as NATSO’s chairman, I have personally witnessed Lisa’s unwavering commitment to this industry, its members, and NATSO’s dedicated staff," Zietlow said. He also highlighted her support for both long-standing industry players and newer members.
The association confirmed plans to appoint an interim CEO to manage the leadership transition.
Founded in 1960, NATSO represents truck stops and travel centers across the United States, focusing on advocacy, education, and business development for its members.
