MOL Plugee expands with ultra-fast EV charging stations
Site selection prioritized areas where charging infrastructure remains scarce or where usage patterns at existing stations pointed to capacity shortfalls.
Hungarian energy company MOL is broadening its Plugee electric vehicle charging network, deploying ultra-fast chargers at nine stations across the country with the help of state co-financing.
MOL Plugee is installing chargers rated between 300 and 600 kW, which the company says will allow new-generation electric vehicles to charge faster and more efficiently, according to a MOL statement. The project is backed by HUF 396.4 million (around €1.1 million) in funding under Hungary's Széchenyi Plan Plus program, comprising a HUF 393.1 million loan and a HUF 3.3 million non-repayable grant, reports Hungary Today.
A new charging station will be established in Tiszafüred, while capacity will be expanded at existing sites in Nyíregyháza, Siófok, Vecsés, Budaörs, Balatonlelle, Páty, and Mosonmagyaróvár. Additional locations are still being finalized.

The rollout runs alongside MOL Plugee's separate Partner Program, through which third-party businesses supply land and on-site infrastructure while MOL sources, installs, and commissions the chargers. Partners can receive a one-off marketing grant of up to HUF 3.6 million (about €10,000), with chargers integrated into a network that already serves more than 50,000 registered customers.
