New Morrisons Daily store opens in Castleford with Avon Retail

The 390 m² store offers supermarket-quality convenience for a growing community.

Morrisons has opened a new Morrisons Daily store in Castleford, West Yorkshire, in partnership with Avon Retail. The 390 m² store, located on the edge of town near residential developments, aims to provide convenient and affordable shopping for both local residents and passing motorists.

The opening comes as more than 600 new homes are being built in the area, supported by a £5 million investment in local development. The store is part of a newly built forecourt designed to meet the needs of the growing community. Positioned between junctions 31 and 32 of the M62, it also caters to travellers with fuel facilities, food-to-go options, and rapid 3,000 kW fast chargers for electric vehicles.

“The opening of this new store couldn’t come at a better time as the area continues to grow and welcome new residents and businesses,” said Victoria Lockie, Head of Wholesale Strategic Projects & Acquisitions at Morrisons. “We're proud to be partnering with Avon Retail and are confident the store will quickly become a valuable asset to those in the area or passing through.”

For Avon Retail, this site represents their largest franchise to date and their first venture with the Morrisons Daily format. By joining the supermarket’s franchise network, the company will bring a wide range of Morrisons products to the local market.

Yakub Valli, Director of Avon Retail, added: “As long-standing members of this community, we understand how vital it is for local residents to have convenient access to quality, affordable food. Our partnership with Morrisons allows us to provide just that, and we can’t wait for people to engage with the store’s wide range of products and services.”

Morrisons now operates more than 700 franchise stores across the UK in forecourts and local neighbourhoods.
