Puma Energy expands CNG network in Tanzania with four new stations

Puma Energy Tanzania is set to open four new CNG stations in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro within three months, including what will be Africa’s largest CNG mother station in Tegeta. The expansion marks a major step in supporting Tanzania’s shift toward cleaner energy and reducing dependence on imported fuels, reports Daily News.
According to CNG Project and Operations Manager Eng. Chagaka Kalimbia, the project aligns with national goals for energy security and sustainability. “This is a pivotal development in Tanzania’s journey toward cleaner energy,” he said.
The new sites will include an integrated multi-fuel station on Bagamoyo Road, another on Mandela Road equipped with truck conversion bays, a daughter station at the Alliance One Tobacco Factory in Morogoro for industrial users, and the flagship Tegeta facility with a 6.7 MMScfd capacity.
A second expansion phase is under review, targeting additional stations in the Coast and Morogoro regions, and potentially in Dodoma via Standard Gauge Railway supply.
Puma Energy has already invested over $24 million in CNG infrastructure. Managing Director Fatma Abdallah added that the company is also expanding its LPG footprint to Mwanza and Arusha by year-end.
