Repsol and El Corte Inglés push toward 1,000 store target

Partnership reached 778 outlets across the energy company’s service stations by the end of 2025.

Repsol and El Corte Inglés are advancing steadily in their long‑term strategy to build Spain’s largest convenience‑store network, reaching 778 outlets across the energy company’s service stations by the end of 2025. The figure represents 71 new openings in the past year and places the alliance on track to meet its shared target of 1,000 stores by 2028.

Most of the network (672 shops) operates under the Stop&Go franchise, while 106 locations use the Mini format, designed for sales areas under 40 square metres. Despite their reduced footprint, the Mini stores offer a comparable range of products and services, reflecting the companies’ aim to adapt retail models to varying station sizes and local demand.

The partnership, launched in 2017, has expanded even through challenging periods, including more than 60 store openings during the 2020 pandemic. Both companies have also pursued cross-promotions to strengthen customer loyalty and increase footfall across their combined retail ecosystem. The alliance was renewed in 2024 and now extends to 2030.

Repsol sees the project as central to its ‘non‑oil’ ambitions, leveraging its network of more than 3,250 stations in Spain. The company has also broadened its offer through collaborations with Amazon, Starbucks, Lizarran and bakery brands such as Levaduramadre.
