Santmyer sells Red Rover convenience stores
Par Mar Oil Company will acquire the retail assets while Countywide Petroleum will take over its branded dealer wholesale business.
Santmyer Companies has sold its Red Rover convenience retail stores to Par Mar Oil Company and its branded dealer wholesale business to Countywide Petroleum Company. Both companies are subsidiaries of Croton Holdings.
Santmyer was founded in 1952 when Myron Santmyer opened a Gulf service station in Dalton, Ohio, and became a Gulf distributor. In 1980, Myron’s son, Terry Santmyer, purchased the business and began building the company into a full-service petroleum marketer that today employs more than 175 Ohioans.
Zach Santmyer, Terry’s son, became president of the company in 2012 and was responsible for expanding the firm into propane, developing the Red Rover brand, becoming a Chevron-branded lubricants distributor, andadding the Sunoco and Exxon brands.
The privately-owned and family operated full-service distributor currently offers diesel, gasoline, propane, lubricants, diesel exhaust fluid and logistics services.
“Based on our strategic goals, we decided to divest our convenience retail and branded dealer wholesale businesses to narrow our strategic focus on commercial fuels, propane, lubricants, automated cardlocks and car washes,” said Zach Santmyer, President of Santmyer.
In total, Par Mar Oil has acquired 14 Red Rover convenience stores.
