Sasol Delight to offer specialty coffee thanks to new partnership
Seattle Coffee Company has agreed to develop up to 100 outlets throughout the network of stores and stations of the brand in South Africa.
Sasol Energy announced it has signed an agreement with Seattle Coffee Company to develop up to 100 outlets at selected Sasol Delight convenience stores in South Africa over the next three years. The partnership builds on the new retail business backcourt strategy that the retailer has launched recently.
The first implementation is set to debut in December of this year, with the hot beverage-focused company to open its first location at Sasol Pinehaven, located in the city of Krugersdorp. The energy company’s new partner is an artisanal coffee firm focused on the entire process and journey that the bean takes from seed to cup. They nurture and partner directly with a network of farmers in major coffee growing regions worldwide.
“We are delighted to welcome Seattle Coffee Company, a much-loved South African brand, as our coffee partner at our Sasol Delight Convenience Stores. We are truly excited about the direction of our new retail strategy which sees us partnering with leading brands that will redefine convenience and prioritise an unparalleled experience for Sasol customers,” said Nokwanda Mbanjwa, Vice President for Retail at Sasol Energy Business.
The retailer´s new strategy is focused on providing differentiated customer offers across six key categories – core convenience retail, fresh food, fresh beverages and bakery, Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or drive through partnerships, car care services and value-added services. In addition, the company launched its own rewards programme last April that has already recorded over 600,000 member registrations.
“It is our ultimate aim, through our strategic partnerships, to bring the best coffee experiences to our customers. Really high standards of coffee, and fast-paced retail environments aren’t always synonymous. In doing so we allow the customer to have the best, always,” added Pete Howie, Champion of People & Product and Co-Founder of Seattle Coffee Company.
