SBRS unveils 500kW charger for scalable e-truck charging

Integrated solution from Shell targets cost-efficient electrification of heavy-duty fleets through modular infrastructure and energy management.

SBRS, Shell Group’s e-mobility subsidiary for fleets, has launched PowerPack 500, a modular charging infrastructure solution designed to support the electrification of heavy-duty vehicle fleets. The system aims to simplify the development and operation of high-performance charging networks while improving the economic viability of electric trucking.

The PowerPack 500 combines hardware, software and services into a single integrated platform tailored to the needs of commercial fleet operators. At its core is the PowerHub 500, a DC fast-charging system engineered for high-capacity, high-utilization environments typical of heavy-duty transport operations.

The solution also incorporates a broader ecosystem, including PowerOS, a centralized management platform that enables real-time monitoring, load management and data-driven optimization of charging infrastructure. Complementary services are provided through PowerCare, which focuses on maintenance, support and system uptime.

A key feature of the platform is its integration with Shell’s European charging network via the ShellCard, allowing fleet operators to combine depot-based charging with access to public and semi-public charging points. This hybrid approach is designed to increase operational flexibility, optimize route planning and reduce range-related constraints.

The system supports gradual scaling, enabling operators to expand infrastructure based on fleet size and evolving operational requirements. It also creates opportunities to monetize charging assets by opening them to third-party users, potentially accelerating return on investment.
