Signar Energy becomes Shell’s new licensee in Argentina

The new corporate identity of Mercuria’s Argentine business replaces Raízen across 892 stations, the Dock Sud refinery and its lubricants, aviation and logistics operations under the Shell brand.

Signar Energy S.A.U. is the new corporate identity of the Shell-branded downstream business in Argentina, replacing Raízen as the brand’s licensee. The rebranding is part of Mercuria Energy Group’s takeover of the business from Raízen Argentina on September 1, after obtaining the required approvals.

The business includes a network of 892 Shell service stations, the 96-year-old Dock Sud refinery and a lubricants plant in Buenos Aires. It also covers aviation fuel facilities at Ezeiza and Aeroparque airports and logistics terminals in Arroyo Seco and Santa Fe. Its activities extend to marine and aviation fuels, asphalts, chemicals and specialties, and supply and distribution, as reported by Surtidores.

“This acquisition in Argentina reflects Mercuria’s long-term commitment to strategic investment in global energy markets and strengthens the company’s established presence in Latin America,” said Brian Falik, Global Chief Investment Officer of Mercuria Energy Group.

“This new stage consolidates the prestige we have built over 112 years of history of the Shell brand, a leader in fuels and lubricants in Argentina,” said Andrés Cavallari, CEO of Signar Energy. “With the support of the same team, we reaffirm our commitment to the continuity of the Shell brand and products.”

Founded in Geneva in 2004, Mercuria operates in more than 50 countries and reports annual revenues of over $140 billion.
