Casey’s rolls out its first pan pizza across 19 states
The fifth-largest US pizza chain spent nearly two years developing the crust, which joins its original and thin options as a permanent menu item.
Casey’s is adding pan pizza to its permanent menu from October 28 at nearly 3,000 stores across 19 states, the first in the convenience retailer’s history. The thick, square crust is made with olive oil, honey, sea salt and finely milled double-zero flour, and is topped edge to edge with mozzarella to form a crispy cheese crown. Customers can order any Casey’s pizza on the new crust, including breakfast, single-topping and specialty options.
According to Casey’s, nearly 80% of the small towns it serves have no nearby national pan pizza offering. In a Talker Research survey of 5,000 US adults cited by the company, one in four respondents said getting pan pizza requires extra effort or that it isn’t available nearby.
“Casey’s has become a destination for pizza in the communities we serve, and our all-new pan pizza gives our guests another reason to choose us,” said Tom Brennan, Chief Merchandising Officer at Casey’s.
“Pan pizza rounds out a strong lineup of crusts, in addition to original and thin, that gives our guests something for every pizza occasion,” added Andrew Kintigh, Executive Chef and Culinary Director.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Casey’s is the third-largest convenience retailer and the fifth-largest pizza chain in the US.
