South Korea's Kyungnam Energy opens first hydrogen station
The company plans to use the site as a regional hub supporting the rollout of hydrogen.
South Korean energy company Kyungnam Energy has opened the Changwon Deoksan hydrogen refueling station in Jinhae District, Changwon, the first facility in the area dedicated exclusively to buses and large commercial vehicles.
Built under a hydrogen station support programme run by South Korea's Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the station operates at a maximum capacity of 100 kg of hydrogen per hour, capable of refueling four to six hydrogen buses every hour. Until now, Jinhae had only facilities serving passenger hydrogen cars, leaving commercial operators without dedicated local infrastructure.
"The Changwon Deoksan hydrogen station is more than a refueling facility. It is a key hub in a regional hydrogen energy value chain that links Kyungnam Energy's natural gas supply, hydrogen production, transport, refueling and hydrogen bus operations into one," said CEO Shin Chang-dong. "We will close the gap in commercial vehicle refueling infrastructure in the Jinhae area and actively support stable operation and wider adoption of hydrogen buses."
The company plans to use the site as a regional hub supporting the rollout of hydrogen commercial vehicles and the transition to hydrogen-powered public transit across the Changwon metropolitan area.
