SPAR retailers around the world will soon have access to AI‑powered theft‑detection technology as the company expands its focus on improving in‑store security. The initiative follows a new partnership between SPAR International and Veesion, a specialist in video‑analysis technology for loss prevention.

The technology uses real‑time video detection to identify suspicious behaviour and send instant alerts to store teams. According to SPAR International, theft and shrink continue to pose major challenges for retail operators globally, making the introduction of automated loss‑prevention tools increasingly important.

The system integrates with existing security infrastructure and is designed to minimise disruption to daily operations, offering retailers an additional layer of protection without requiring major changes to store workflows. By adopting AI‑driven monitoring, operators can better protect margins while maintaining a smooth shopping experience.

Tom Rose, Head of International Operations at SPAR International, said: “At SPAR International, our priority is supporting our licensed country organisations with forward‑thinking solutions. Veesion’s technology is a game‑changer for retail security, offering an intuitive and reliable system that helps safeguard profits and enhance the shopper experience.”

With retail crime placing growing pressure on store teams worldwide, the adoption of advanced AI tools marks a significant step in SPAR’s efforts to reinforce security and support its network of licensed operators.
