Recently, Technotrade supported the implementation of fuel card systems in Kenya and Peru, where our partners successfully deployed the following process flow using the PTS-2 forecourt controller.
When a customer arrives at the pump and lifts the nozzle to start fueling, a small reader on the pump lights up or beeps. This is a signal for the customer to scan their loyalty card or tag.
Once the tag is scanned, the PTS-2 controller sends some basic information to the loyalty system. This includes things like the tag ID, which pump and nozzle are being used, the type of fuel selected, and its price.
The loyalty system then checks a few things:
- Is the tag valid?
- Is the customer allowed to use this fuel and this station?
- What kind of account does the customer have - money, volume, discount?
- Is there enough balance left in the account?
- Does the customer qualify for any special pricing or discounts?
- Are the customer’s details correct (like name, vehicle plate number, company)?
If everything checks out, the pump is automatically authorized to start fueling. The system also makes sure to apply any discounts or special prices the customer is eligible for.
After the fueling is done, the PTS-2 controller sends the final transaction details back to the loyalty system. This allows the system to subtract the correct amount of fuel or money from the customer’s account.
The PTS-2 forecourt controller offers easy integration with your loyalty infrastructure. While managing fuel dispensers, PTS-2 controller communicates directly with your loyalty server over simple HTTP requests or a persistent WebSocket connection, eliminating the need for a static IP address at the station.
Integration is straightforward, requiring only two request-response exchanges on the server side. This setup enables real-time validation of both the customer and the vehicle, especially when automatic vehicle identification systems are in use.
