Tesco aims to open over 150 Express stores in 3 years
The retailer is planning on closing in on the 3,000-store milestone to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its c-store format.
Tesco plans to open more than 150 Express convenience stores in the UK over the next three years.
Currently, the retailer operates a network of 2,704 and aims to expand its reach with new locations in time for the 30th anniversary of the format. The chain opened its first Express c-store locations in 1994 and has grown to become a major player in the sector.
With these new sites, the company will add over 2,000 positions in local communities.
To celebrate the anniversary, Tesco has opened its newest Burnt Oak Express store in North London, near the first ever shop opened by its founder Jack Cohen in 1929.
In addition, the company recently announced it will cut the price of over 200 own-brand and branded products across its network.
