Turkey’s first petrol station rapid EV charger unveiled

Turkish fuel distributor Aytemiz has launched the country’s first rapid electric vehicle (EV) charger installed in a petrol station, reports Hurriyet Daily News.

The EV charger has been installed in an Aytemiz highway petrol station in the northwestern province of Bursa.  It can charge two hybrid or electric vehicles simultaneously for 25 minutes and can power up to 75 cars daily.

The rapid charging unit was launched in cooperation with Eşarj Electric Vehicles Charging Systems.

Aytemiz CEO Ahmet Eke said that the company would like to take advantage of the potential EV market in Turkey.

The number of electric vehicles in the country surpassed 2,000 units at the end of 2016. Electric and hybrid vehicles sale increased by 805.6 percent to 2,763 in the first nine months of 2017.
