United Fuels Midwest sells downstream assets in Minnesota and South Dakota
Transaction includes multiple buyers such as Casey’s General Stores and Staples Oil Company.
United Fuels Midwest has completed the sale of its downstream energy portfolio, comprising 13 locations across Minnesota and South Dakota along with its wholesale fuel distribution business and petroleum transport operations.
The sale includes five travel centers and eight convenience stores, most of which operated under the Speedway brand as franchisee and licensee sites. This divestiture marks United Fuels Midwest’s full exit from retail, wholesale, and logistics operations, with assets acquired by Casey’s General Stores, Staples Oil Company, and another undisclosed strategic buyer active in the Upper Midwest region.
The transaction ensures operational continuity for existing sites and represents a major strategic milestone for United Fuels, which has developed a strong footprint in the region’s fuel and convenience markets.
Downstream Energy Group (DEG) acted as the exclusive financial advisor for United Fuels Midwest, managing the entire process — from valuation and marketing to negotiation of multiple definitive purchase agreements.
