Vivo Energy completes Namibia fuel station divestment
Sale of Engen and Shell sites to Nasan Energies marks regulatory milestone in market restructuring.
Vivo Energy Namibia has completed the divestment of its portfolio of service stations to Nasan Energies, following approval by the Namibian Competition Commission. The transaction finalizes a process first announced in September 2025 and was required as part of regulatory conditions tied to Vivo Energy’s acquisition of Engen Limited in May 2024.
The deal transfers ownership and operation of the divested Engen- and Shell-branded sites to Nasan Energies, which now assumes full responsibility for supply, customer service and site management.
Johan Grobbelaar, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Namibia, said: “Completion of this transaction represents the fulfilment of our regulatory commitment to the Namibian Competition Commission and to the people of Namibia.”
The agreement represents a significant step in Namibia’s downstream fuel market restructuring, with a new domestic operator entering at scale.
Nasan Energies described the acquisition as a milestone in building a locally founded energy company. Miguel Hamutenya, Co-founder of Nasan Energies, said: “We have taken full ownership and operational responsibility for these service stations and are committed to delivering the highest standards of service and reliability to our customers from day one.”
During a transition period, Engen-branded sites will continue operating under their existing branding, while Shell-branded locations are being debranded. All sites will eventually be rebranded under Nasan Energies as integration progresses.
