Wawa announces new forays into Ohio and Indiana
The retailer confirmed its ambition to develop its network across the states for the next 8 to 10 years during its Community Partnership Day Tour.
Wawa celebrated its two-stop Community Partnership Day Tour in Ohio and shared new details on its expansion into the state for the first time.
The retailer specified that it plans to open approximately 60 stores across the region over the next 8-10 years with the first groundbreakings beginning in mid-2024. The announcement was done the day after it confirmed its ambition to foray into Kentucky for the first time as well.
So far, Wawa has more than 32 sites under contract across both states. As these projected stores make their way through the permitting and approval process, the company will announce specific locations and estimated timing for the first store openings in Ohio once these processes are complete.
“Our Community Partnership Day events also gave us the opportunity to meet new community members and talk a little bit about our history and what makes Wawa such an ideal fit for communities in this region,” said Joe Collins, Director of Store Operations for Wawa.
The first store locations are projected to open by mid-2025, with plans to open up to 10 locations that year, 10 additional stores in 2026 and five stores each year thereafter for each state.
