Wawa has announced its foray into Alabama with a six-store expansion plan. In line with its growth strategy unveiled last year, the retailer has given more details about the future shops to be developed throughout the state and across the Florida Panhandle.

According to a recent report by local news site AL.com, company executives revealed that the first two locations are set to be located in the city of Mobile, with four more shops to be opened in Baldwin County. Representatives clarified that the first one of these new c-stores are expected to open next year.

The retailer’s expansion plans include opening a total of 40 stores over the next eight or 10 years, as Robert Yeatts, Senior Director for Store Operations in Florida and new markets, confirmed for the Mobile-Panhandle region.

Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C. with nearly 1,000 locations to date. The sites offer a large fresh foodservice selection, including Wawa brands such as custom prepared hoagies, freshly-brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, hand-crafted specialty beverages, a dinner menu including burgers and an assortment of soups, sides and snacks.
