Zest accelerates UK retail charging with new Home Bargains sites

Partnership adds fast and ultra‑rapid charging as Zest grows its national footprint.

Zest is expanding its retail charging network through a new partnership with TJ Morris, the company behind Home Bargains. The collaboration brings charging technology to stores across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, strengthening the company’s presence across key retail corridors.

Zest chargers are now live at Home Bargains locations in Sunderland, Newport, Carrickfergus, Ballymena, Cardigan and Arbroath. Additional sites in Ashford and Leigh will open shortly, with more scheduled throughout the year as the charge point operator accelerates deployment.

The rollout includes a mix of fast and ultra‑rapid charging options, enabling drivers to top up while shopping and supporting increased demand for accessible charging at retail destinations.

Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said: “Retail destinations play a crucial role in making EV charging part of everyday life. By working with forward‑looking retailers like Home Bargains, we’re helping to remove barriers to EV adoption, and this growing partnership shows how charging can be both practical and accessible.”

The expansion builds on Zest’s growing retail footprint, which already includes major shopping centres such as Metrocentre, Merry Hill, Frenchgate and Chantry Place, along with partnerships with Starbucks, Tesco, Spar and Co‑op.

Simon Reddish, Procurement Manager at TJ Morris, added: “This investment enhances the experience for our customers, making it easier and more convenient than ever to charge while they shop with us.”
