Zest partners with Heart of England Co-op to roll out chargers in the UK
Leeds-based B-Corp Zest will fund and operate the chargers at a mix of existing and new Heart of England Co-op stores
EV charging player Zest is partnering with Heart of England Co-op to install ultra-rapid chargers across nine stores in the Midlands.
Under the multi-year agreement, Leeds-based B-Corp Zest will fund and operate the chargers at a mix of existing and new Heart of England Co-op stores, including sites in Coventry, Nuneaton, Wellesbourne and Southam, letting customers top up their vehicles while they shop.
John Bridges, head of property services at Heart of England Co-op, said the deal was "great news for our shoppers and members as the move to electric vehicles continues at pace," adding that the co-op has invested millions in green initiatives in recent years.
The partnership adds to Zest's growing roster of UK retail collaborations, which already includes Central Co-op and Aldi, as the company works to make EV charging more equitable in everyday locations.
Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said the tie-up "allows us to bring reliable ultra-rapid EV charging to even more communities across the Midlands," noting that convenient retail locations make it easier for drivers to charge as part of their daily routines.
Heart of England Co-op said the environment remains a major consideration across its operations as it expands sustainable community initiatives region-wide.
