OXXO Gas travel center wins NACS Latin America award
The first OXXO travel center, a government-recognized Safe Rest Stop in northern Mexico, was honored in Las Vegas as CEO Jaime Longoria Manllo set sights on global leadership.
Travel Center OXXO Gas & OXXO has won the NACS Convenience Store of the Year Award for Latin America. Leaders from OXXO Mexico accepted the award at the Global Colleagues Reception during the 2026 NACS Show in Las Vegas.
The site, in Majalca, Chihuahua, is OXXO Mexico’s first travel center, and it brings several of the company’s store formats together in one stop for travelers. Mexico’s Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) has recognized it as a Safe Rest Stop. Its services are designed to make trips safer and more convenient for drivers and freight operators.
Henry Armour, NACS Chairman Emeritus & CEO International, called Latin America a center of retail innovation. “OXXO Mexico is a prime example, combining scale, customer understanding and innovation to redefine convenience,” he said.
In an interview with MobilityPlaza after the ceremony, Jaime Longoria Manllo, CEO of OXXO Gas, said the company is “very proud of receiving this award because it reflects all the hard work and effort from the OXXO and OXXO Gas team.” He explained that the travel center came from a focus on customers and “the people that travel around Mexico.”
He named three pillars behind the brand. The first is support for store teams: “Everything happens at the store level. This is where the magic happens.” The second is a value proposition that keeps changing with consumer trends. “The value proposition that we have is not a finished product,” he noted. The third is discipline and consistent execution, so customers experience OXXO the same way in every country.
OXXO is part of FEMSA, which also operates in Europe through Valora, home to formats such as avec, k kiosk and Ditsch, whose pretzels are already sold in some OXXO stores in Mexico. To keep execution consistent across such a large network, the company tailors each store’s assortment and layout to the needs of its location, runs complementary formats such as OXXO Nicho and OXXO Gas, and tracks customer experience through a Net Promoter Score that reached 87.8 in Mexico in 2025.
That consistency covers more than 24,000 stores in Mexico, more than 200 in the US and more than 1,000 in other Latin American markets. Asked about the future, Longoria Manllo said: “We would like to become the largest retailer in the world. Our ambition is big.”
