200 Vietnamese c-stores to sell Japanese goods

Sake, sweets, and agricultural produce are some of the products that will be sold this autumn in Japanese convenience stores in Vietnam.

FamilyMart and Ministop, in partnership with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), will sell over 60 products at up to 200 stores in Vietnam as part of the Japan Fair Campaign, reported The Japan News.

The campaign aims to promote Japanese food and agricultural exports in the Southeast Asian country in line with Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement, of which both Vietnam and Japan are signatories.

The agreement calls for elimination of tariffs, a move that will ease the flow of imported merchandise and bring opportunities to Japanese convenience store chains in the country.

Japan’s Economy, Trade, and Industry Minister Motoo Hayashi visited Ho Chi Minh City for the campaign and met with the two c-stores’ officials.

Hayashi also expressed support for the establishment of a local group that will provide assistance to Japanese companies interested in investing in the country.
