50five, NXT Mobility to build nationwide fast charging network in the Netherlands
Both partners aim to create a joint network that comprises between 150 and 200 sites by 2030.
NXT Mobility and 50five Group have signed an agreement to jointly build a nationwide network of ultra-fast chargers for electric mobility. The companies aim to add 150 to 200 fast-charging locations to their joint network by 2030.
The partners seek to build these fast-charging locations in grid-congested areas and provide charging services to both passenger and freight traffic. While 50five is one of the largest providers in the field of charging infrastructure for EVs in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom, NXT Mobility has experience in operating ultra-fast charging facilities with a capacity of up to 320 kW.
"In the coming years, the need for public fast-charging facilities for both passenger and truck traffic will grow enormously. Where many EV owners now charge at home, this is not possible for those without their own charging facilities. This will greatly increase the demand for fast charging on the road," said Manfred Klumpenaar, CEO of 50five Group.
The inaugural sites will be operational by the first quarter of 2023. The envisioned look and feel of the network is in line with the existing NXT Charge identity complemented by the distinctive green accents of the 50five corporate identity. In addition, both firms also offer a solution that enables fast charging at locations that are not actually suitable for it.
