ADNOC Distribution to install solar panels at fuel station
It will be the first station in Abu Dhabi to run solar powered equipment directly connected to the national power grid.
ADNOC Distribution and Japan Cooperation Centre Petroleum (JCCP) signed an agreement to pilot the use of solar panels at one major service stations in Yas North (Abu Dhabi).
Under the agreement, photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 53.55 KW will be installed at the service station to boost energy efficiency and sustainability. JCCP will monitor the operation of power generation and evaluate its performance.
It will be the first-ever service station in Abu Dhabi that will install small power generation equipment directly connected to the national power grid.
Cosmo Engineering has been the appointed company by JCCP to carry out the works, which will begin at the beginning of next month. The project will be implemented from FY 2018 to FY 2022
“Solar energy and, more broadly, energy efficiency are areas of particular strength in Japan, and we are delighted to be the host for this project as it aligns well with our own goals for ADNOC Distribution,” said ADNOC Distribution acting CEO Saeed Al Rashdi.
ENOC, ADNOC Distribution’s rival operator, launched in 2017 a similar solar-powered service station in Dubai Internet City. ENOC took the opportunity back then to express that the company’s goal is to run all of its future stations with solar powered solutions.
